Jan 13th 2010

It is early, but not too early. Cold enough for Northwest Florida to keep me inside. I have work to do on the house today so venturing outside is inevitable as I cannot seem to get the house to fix itself. I know I complain about the heat here and yes, 110 deg F is hot, but there is always the pool. Its the shivering that seems to be getting me, the tensing up of muscles in an effort to move blood has an averse reaction onto my mack and if my back goes out, this man is down and unless a Loratab fairy come and visits me, I am horizontal.

Coffee is ready, I will be right back...

Back...coffee, what can i say. I like mine black, I tease "I like my coffee like I like my women, dark and bitter." Might should change that as I am a very monogamous married man and I am not about to call my wife dark OR bitter. I will stick to my coffee. I should change that to "I like my coffee like I like my beer, dark and bitter" as it seems more fitting but just does not get the chuckles like the former. Beer, unlike coffee, is a whole other subject and should not be discussed without one close by to reflect on and being fairly early in the day I will have to broach that on some other blog. But I digress...

Coffee, as one legend has it is attributed to an Israeli goat herder many many years ago who noticed his beast were a little more jovial then normal and found the source is the bean of the coffee plant. What puzzels me is who decided to roast that little pick-me-up bean and pour hot water over its crushed remains. That is were the revolution is, nothing has that taste and while its peppy properties are now required to sustain life in this old shell of mine as opposed to a novel high. If you want to feel the effect of caffeine then try tea.

Tea you say? Yes I say. I was out of coffee a couple weeks ago and taking my wife's advice, I made myself a hot cup of water in my cup and dipped a tea bag in, I like my coffee dark so I used a family size tea bag to darken the amber liquid and give me some pep! For those of you who do not know Tea has MORE caffeine in it then coffee...you didn't know that...lol...neither did I. The tea, well it tasted just like tea, funny thing about that, and it is not like I dislike the taste of tea, I love Iced tea, not sweetened but that is because it taste like water, so as as a coffee replacement, tea will be a failure in my book. So I continued to drink the strong hot tea and within minutes I found myself in the grips of REAL caffeine... bugs in my hair, itching, non stop speech and a weird twitch in my left eye. This was terrible, this was NOT coffee....when I did finally quit twitching I swore never to be lured into the temptation of tea again, for such a frail little leaf it packs a whollop.

So there it is, My first official Blog. Not so bad when enjoyed over coffee, I would fear the results of tea.
